Seeking A Game To Play / Seeking Pathfinder campaign or Homebrew

Hey Ariana. If you're open to trying new systems, what genres are you interested in? A lot of what gets played around here isn't the usual DnD/Pathfinder sort of thing, but so it'd be good to know what kind of stories you like. Anyway, welcome to Infnro!

Seeking Players For A Game / PLAY TEST: STAR CRUISE

I've been writing a Star Trek inspired roleplaying game called Star Cruise (working title). Class based sytem with task resolutiuon done through a simple 3D6 roll (adding an attribute and class modifier) I'm looking to combine Old School design with a mix of sci-fi and horror. Brave members of the Star Union explore hex-based star maps exploring new worlds, accepting missions and discovering the strange and disturbing Forbidden knowledge and technology waiting for them in the void.

I've got to the stage where I'm ready to run some play tests so I'm looking for some eager players who are willing to put the system through its paces and give valuable feedback. I'd be looking for 3-5 players who'd be able to play either Saturday/Sunday around 1pm/2pm CST.

Is anyone interested in exploring the final frontier of roleplaying?

Seeking Players For A Game / ICONS: the HIVE Swarm

Ah. I should describe ICONS for the people who don't know it.

Think of it as the lovechild between FASERIP and FATE. I'd say it's more rules-light than, say, Mutants and Masterminds.

Six attributes, specialties (aka skills) add to the appropriate attribute, and a variety of powers. Damage is largely fixed (that is, a level 7 blast does 7 points of damage). The roll is your attribute + 1D6 versus the opponent's attribute + 1D6 or, in an unopposed roll, a target number.

Player characters have Determination Points, which are quite like Fate points, and let you as a player influence various mechanical things. The more powers you have, the fewer Determination points you start with.

All characters have Qualities which work in a very FATE-like manner, and can be compelled or used by the PC, though the ways in which they're used are a bit more defined.

The default is a random roll for character creation, but there is a point buy option. You can modify powers with extras and limitations. There is a mostly-complete character generator here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3757960/ICONS/Editor.html but it does require you to know what you're doing.

Here's a sample character I just rolled up:

Cosmo "Lightning" Collins, possessor of a ring with a magic genie.

Prowess: 6
Coordination: 6
Strength: 4
Intellect: 5
Awareness: 6
Willpower: 9
Stamina: 13
Determination: 2
Specialties Martial Arts, Occult, Linguistics
Powers Magic 6 (genie in magic lamp) Extra: Emotion Control 6, Extra: Telekinesis
Qualities: Favors action over discussion; Eye for a pretty face; Wants to do the right thing.

Cosmo was acting as languages expert on an archaeological dig when he found a ring with what looked like the Seal of Solomon on it. He tried it on, and found that he had control of the genie of the ring, who has now learned English. An amateur boxer, Cosmo (or "Lightning," as he prefers to be called) can take care of himself, but his ability to force his will on the genie is the thing that makes others care about the ring.

Seeking Players For A Game / ICONS: the HIVE Swarm

All right, I'll step up. This is a fairly standard Supers kind of game, using ICONS Assembled (because I'm writing an adventure for it for a game publisher). (This is not yet that adventure!) I'm thinking a series of linked adventures, loose membership as people decide whether they like my GMing style or their characters. We'll start with one adventure (which will probably be several sessions because I can't seem to keep anything short.) If people are having fun, we'll extend to another, and so on.

Two to four characters, all folks who have heard of one another and aren't against working together. (Ideally a team, but not necessarily.) Action starts in one city, but be open to the occasional world- or galaxy- or dimension-spanning adventure. Mechanical part of character creation would be by email or here in the forums before the first session.

Setting will be a mix of the implied setting in the ICONS stuff and my own stuff. I'll be shooting for a Bronze Age feel, but might not get it. Characters will probably be the premier characters in the city (unless you don't want to be).

I'm willing to teach anyone without the rules. The first edition of ICONS is PWYW at RPGNow; I can summarize the differences for anyone who wants to know. (If you know ICONS, I don't care if it's random or 45-point build plus origin, any origin power levels level 5.) I'm in EDT, and my availability is Thursday nights through Sunday nights or Sunday afternoon.

Any interest?

Campaign Ideas & Discussions / Sidekix

  • A second was the other end of the spectrum: a one-shot set in a supers old-age home. All I have is the setting, though; the story seed might well have to come from the players.
  • A third one is a reality show, but where the players are (probably) reformed villains who have been hired to oppose the contestants in the show. They have to try and pull off "jobs" that fit various tropes while the wannabe heroes oppose them. Theme is redemption.
  • A fourth is essentially the setting to Base Raiders, though I'd probably use a system that I am more familiar with.
  • I think it might also be fun to play the people left behind during an original "Secret Wars" kind of thing: all the really significant (aka popular to the readers) heroes and villains have disappeared--we know not where. Players would take the part of the less popular heroes who are suddenly tasked with protecting the world. This isn't so bad if you're, say, the Sentry, but not so good if you're Daredevil or Iron Fist. Because the Mandarin and Kang and the Skrulls are still out there...

(Though probably I'd use an original world. Not guaranteed, though.)

I actually have no idea if anything got off the ground or not. Either way I am still very interested myself!

Campaign Ideas & Discussions / Sidekix

One of the ideas I had was that in (in the Marvel and DC universes, anyway), being a side kick or a teen hero is kind of like forming a garage band. You do it for a while and then maybe one of the people goes on to actually be a musician, but most people don't -- they go off to be accountants or welders or lawyers.

The premise I thought of was that a group of young adults who used to be the Teen Team are called together by the one of their member who has become a wanna-be TV show producer. (This gathering doubles as their Christmas reunion, anyway.) This member's secret agenda is to get everyone to sign off on having their likenesses used in a show based on the Teen Team (he's already sold the show idea, he just has to get the paperwork filled out). Everyone else thinks it's a reunion.

And bad guys get involved with old grudges.

There's certainly a chance to talk things out ("What? It's just bookkeeping trouble? I can handle that for you!") with the villains, and maybe hide things.

Ideas?

Don't know if you've already run it or lost interest or put it on the back burner, but I'm interested. (It's only seven months later!)

Seeking A Game To Play / A superhero game?

I'm looking to join a superhero game. Systems I own (and therefore will play) are:

  • ICONS
  • Mutants and Masterminds 2E or 3E
  • Marvel Heroic Roleplaying
  • Base Raiders (Strange Fate)

I probably have some more squirrelled away on the hard drive somewhere, like Wild Talents, FASERIP Marvel, or original BASH or Supers!, but I'd have to go look those up.

As you can see, I'm rather catholic about which game I play. I'm on an ICONS kick right now, but that's hardly the only one I'd try.

I have an idea for a thing or two I'd run, but I'd rather be a player first and get the hang of the place and how things are done.

I'm in EDT, so I'm available any night of the week but Tuesday or Wednesday. I can manage a weekend afternoon or morning too.

John

Seeking Players For A Game / Super Heroic Role-Playing by ReaperOf666

For all I know, you guys have formed, run a campaign, and ended...

But if not, I'm interested. I'm still a newbie to playing MHR, but have the rules. (I had fun the one time I did play.) I'd prefer a custom setting, but an original Marvel works for me.

Seeking Players For A Game / Nova Praxis: 4 Slots Open

http://www.infrno.net/publishers/Morfedel/products/Fate-Core/games/4753-nova-praxis

I'm looking for a few brave souls that would like to join me in my first foray into FATE and Nova Praxis. I tend to run my games as semi-open world types with minimal railroading (only used when the story is lost or bogged down) allowing a great deal of freedom of choice for my players. If you're interested, throw your name in the hat. I'll be approving registrations every other day or so.

Seeking A Game To Play / Looking for game

Welcome aboard, Jade.

I am actually considering running a Valentine's Day Monterhearts one-shot for the event, but that depends on my study workload this week.

Should I run something it will most likely be on Sunday ^^

Thanks! I was able to play a Monsterhearts one shot and had a lot of fun! But I definitely want to play more. So I would appreciate any opportunities to play that you send my way. I will keep an eye on the romance special event to see if anyone posts any games. :)
